Tahiti

Hello from the Southern Hemisphere!

We arrived in Tahiti last Wednesday at 6am. We've been on the go since then and haven't really had time to sit and update this blog (Internet access is scarce/expensive, too.).

All 3 of our flights were on time and uneventful, which is unusual for us! We were thrilled that all 4 of our bags arrived...that's unusual for us as well! When we arrived at our resort, The Intercontinental, we were absolutely stunned at the view from the lobby. I'd post a picture, but I can't figure out how to post pictures on the blog from my iPad...I'm slowly adding some to Facebook.

We stayed in an Overwater Bungalow (I called it our FUNgalow) which was amazing. We spent each morning/evening relaxing on our deck that overlooked the island of Moorea. One morning, a stingray jumped out of the water right in front of us. Too fast for a picture, though.

We basically spent our 3 days in Tahiti laying at the main pool, the swim up bar pool and the lagoon. Dannie was more adventurous and rented a kayak and went on a snorkeling trip (I went with him but I'm terrified of sharks so I stayed on the boat...more on that later!). I did manage to climb out of my beach chair a couple times for a trip to the spa and to go snorkeling in the Lagoon Aquarium.

Our first night there we had a romantic dinner at Le Lotus, which is an over water restaurant. One night we ventured into downtown Tahiti for dinner at a local gathering place that has about 12 food trucks that prepare food nightly. I was a bit intimidated at first, but it turned out to be the best meal of our stay! After that, we found a local bar with live music and had a couple drinks.

We really wish we had a couple more days there. We met some fun couples that we had dinner/drinks with a few times. I will TRY to get some more pictures uploaded soon. Now on to our beloved New Zealand for 29 days!
